Warren Buffett
The “Oracle of Omaha” investor and philanthropist, 89, announced in 2012 that he had Stage I prostate cancer but assured shareholders in his company, Berkshire Hathaway, that he felt “great—as if I were in my normal excellent health—and my energy level is 100 percent.” Five months later, he announced that he had completed a 44-day cycle of radiation therapy. “I’ll be feeling the side effects for a few weeks yet, but I am so glad to say that’s over,” he said. Some experts said that a man of Buffett’s advanced age with early-stage prostate cancer could have foregone treatment for a watch-and-wait approach.
