In 2008, the Scottish star, also known for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars movies, revealed that he had had several suspicious-looking moles removed below his eye and that they indeed were skin cancers. “It was great fun having skin cancer, it was great, I really enjoyed it,” he said with typical sarcastic U.K. wit. He made his announcement around the same time that American TV news anchor Anderson Cooper made a similar one about his own melanoma removal.
