Immunotherapy offers very good results for some patients, and there is no shortage of experts claiming it has revolutionized cancer treatment. The American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Association for Cancer Research annual meetings feature dozens of studies showing that checkpoint inhibitors and other immunotherapies can delay disease progression and in some cases extend survival by years. The first child treated with CAR-T therapy for advanced leukemia, Emily Whitehead, has now been cancer-free for six years.
