Other People (2016)
Comedic actress Molly Shannon, best known for her stint on Saturday Night Live, is simply transfixing as a dying mother facing her last days with her family. When her gay son tells her he wants to take her on a trip somewhere to see the world, she responds, “I’ll see my whole world at the dinner table tonight.” It’s that kind of focus on family that lifts this film above the rest.
