Chemo Brain

Chemotherapy, along with other cancer treatments and sometimes cancer itself, can lead to cognitive impairment, aka chemo brain. Symptoms may include a loss of mental sharpness, an inability to remember certain things and difficulty finishing tasks, concentrating and learning new skills. Often, these are short-term problems, which resolve after finishing treatment. Management may include cognitive rehabilitation, an element of cancer rehab that includes activities to improve brain function. Exercise, meditation and getting help with sleep problems may also help reduce chemo brain symptoms.
